Jeff was born In Olympia Washington where his first job was delivering news papers for $30 per month in 1971. At the age of 11 years old he was excited by the opportunity. Having learned to work hard on a small family farm, he was ready to enter the construction industry in 1979. In 1981 the recession hit, and even though work was scarce, he was hired by BW Builders providing Government subsidized housing. In the mid eighties the industry fully recovered and in 1988 Jeff was hired as a Project Manager for the largest builder in Olympia. His responsibilities included planning and overseeing two commercial projects including a major renovation of an historic building in downtown Olympia. This required maintaining a consensus between; his employer, the investors, future tenants, and the City of Olympia's new "Design Review Board". This project proved a to be a turning point, as he learned that true success was only possible by careful planning and positive communication! In 1991, he was offered the position of a Vice President, at Hoel Construction Company Inc. Despite the new recession, the family business prospered due to its reputation for integrity, quality and providing truly affordable housing. However eight years and hundreds of projects later, his professional growth potential peaked. Desiring to move in a new direction, he respectfully resigned from the corporation. Hoel Construction remains a highly respected home builder in Thurston County. In 1998, Jeff began CAPS Inc. (Construction Assistance & Project Services Inc.) The projects he managed covered multiple jurisdictions including the City of Lacey, Thurston County, and Pierce County. His collective experience enabled him to navigate through complex and often contradictory requirements by over-extended municipalities. In 2003 he worked closely with Pierce County to streamline their online permitting process. This proactive approach to municipalities contributed to his successful application and issuance of over 700 permits, in conjunction with Azalea Gardens, and Laurel Oaks. With the completion of these projects in 2006 it became clear that the entire area was largely built-out, congested, and a recession was looming. It was time for a big change. After spending much of 2007 as volunteers rebuilding homes in the Gulf area, and visiting rural communities all over the the Country, Jeff and his family settled on Price Utah to start a new life. This decision was based in part; to the fact that housing and Real Estate prices had not out paced wages, as they did in the Pacific Northwest, and other parts of the country. The small town feel is reminiscent of Olympia Washington in the late sixties. The master plan for the communities provides measured growth and opportunity, without compromising community treasures. Jeff and his family are proud to call Price, Utah home.
